"Concealed Weapons & Gun Laws in Virginia,
Maryland, & Massachusetts"
Firearm - Gun Laws
In the United States, gun laws vary from state to state. The Virginia gun laws are different from the gun laws in Maryland and the same applies to Massachusetts gun laws. Gun laws in each state are different from state to state, but gun laws in each state do not contradict federal firearm laws. Each state has different gun laws concerning "assault weapons" but again, the gun laws do not contradict existing federal firearm laws. Almost all the states, have provisions in their state contstitutions similar to the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Oddly enough, Maryland & New York do not have this in their state constitution.
Everybody is subject to the firearm laws of the state that they live in. Therefore, firearm license-holders are subject to the firearm laws of the state in which they are carrying a firearm in. Not the state that their concealed carry permit was issued from. Keep in mind that some states do not allow concealed carry weapon (CCW) permit holders from another state to carry a concealed weapon in the state they are travelling thru. For example a person in Virginia who is authorized to carry a concealed weapon is not allowed to carry the concealed weapon thru the District of Columbia without following proper procedure.
Also, many people are not aware that they cannot carry a concealed weapon in certain types of buildings such a courthouses, schools, Federal buildings unless they are specifically authorized to carry a concealed weapon into those facilities. Frequently, people are charged with carrying a concealed weapon into an airport, courthouse, school, etc.
